I bought this for my 5-1/2 yr old grandson for Christmas '09. His 7-1/2 yr old brother received a couple of the other castle sets. These are wonderful sets and the boys played with them for at least 2 or more hours every day while at my home. He did need a bit of help with some areas of construction, but for the most part is great at reading the picture "directions" and loves his pirate ship. Hours and hours of fun.
